Trailer Review - Creed

With the movie coming to theatres in Britain next month I thought I might as well review the trailer seen as we have to wait a little longer for the film!

It's been 12 years since the last Rocky film, but the franchise is now experiencing a spin-off with in the form of 'Creed' Apollo Creed's son played by Michael B. Jordon. Adonis Creed following in the footsteps of his father with the help of Rocky, Sylvester Stallone OBVIOUSLY returning to the role, is there to help train and coach him to the top. Ironic seen as in Rocky III Apollo trained Rocky to defeat Clubber Lang.
Michael B. Jordon in the trailer looks like he has worked really hard for the part! Like his father he looks like he is fast and quick on his feet! Each punch looks realistic and just as you would expect a boxing film to look like! Michael B. Jordon not only being a talented and great actor but also prepared to be a good lead for this movie. The trailer gives us a good insight into a young and dedicated man who is prepared and eager to step into the ring and prove himself. Obviously he has large footsteps to follow in with Apollo being World Champion he would have to do something pretty spectacular to step out of his shadow!

As for what we know from the trailer, we know where Adonis is going and that Rocky will train rookie, with fast paced cuts and transitions it builds up suspense as we expect a fast paced, action filled film with a storyline that is bound to make people happy and remind them of the days when Stallone led the way in the Rocky films!

We are also reminded of some old scenery where Rocky used to train as Adonis jogs down a similar looking street to the one Rocky used to run down. Giving it a touch of the old Rocky films as well which is always nice! What I'm worried about a little bit is whether it'll be too much like the old Rocky films and not bring anything new to the table. I'm sure when the film is finally released in the UK we will see the balance between the old and new perfectly!

Having been introduced to Rocky at a young age I fell in love with the films a long time ago! I am looking forward to a new chapter following the story of another character but with Rocky still having a part to play! :)

  1. Saw this today (by accident though - I was going to see The Hateful Eight and walked into the wrong screening XD) I'd planned to watch all the Rocky films before I saw it, but not doing so didn't matter, on its own feet it was still a great, great movie!
