the future trailers might convince me to see this film on the big screen. With well known faces it will no doubt grab some peoples attention, but will that be enough to grab the everyone's attention? I do believe that in order to be successful it will need a little more than famous faces and special effects to lure people into the cinema.
Fantastic Beasts and where to find them: Trailer Review
Independence day: Resurgence Trailer review
The trailer spends most of the time showing old and new faces with Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum returning to their respected roles as President Whitmore and David Levinson, but more surprisingly Judd Hirsch coming back as Julius Levinson as he pops up in this trailer on a boat overshadowed by the alien spacecraft (at least I think it is), and also the return of Vivica A.Fox as Jasmin Dubrow-Hiller. One face that is sure to get people excited is Liam Hemsworth playing the part of Jake Morrison who is seen a few times and quite a fine actor as well, but a new face is placed on an old character with Maika Monroe playing the part of Patricia Whitmore. Although no Will Smith? Well as you might have seen at the end of the trailer there is a website where it takes you through the timeline from the war of 1996. One of the highlights is the death of Colonel Hiller, (Will Smith's character at the time was Captain Hiller) was killed when some alien tech malfunctioned, so unfortunately we probably won't be seeing his character in the series again. however his Son will be in it played by Jessie Usher.
The trailer also spends a lot of time telling us about what mankind have been doing over the passed twenty years since the war, manipulating alien technology so they can prepare for another invasion. This being a huge jump and quite exciting as it takes itself further away from the reality of today and opens up a wider range of events that could potentially happen. With the humans supposedly catching up on technology, the aliens could well have developed their technology further again putting the humans in a bad position once again.
So what about the story? Considering this is the first trailer I don't think they'll give much a way and is more of a teaser of what we can expect. But to be honest what else is there to explain? Humans are fine, prepared, but the aliens are back! We pretty much know that part of the story but it leaves room for more development.
Newcomers like Liam Hemsworth's and Jessie Usher's characters will have to fill the boots of previous cast members, with Liam's character being a fighter pilot who has made mistakes and has been demoted to driving a dune buggy on the moon could make for an interesting placement for the character. Then Jessie's character living in the shadow of his father, Colonel Hiller could come out and prove that he's just as strong and WILLing! - Get it? Will Smith ;D
Anyway it's shaping up to be a pretty decent movie and a worthy sequel. One gripe from the original would be the script, at times it was poor and the stereotypical use of the British! Who says "Belgium Contingence on the Cyanide" in Britain any more?! What does it even mean?!
Hopefully this one won't be as patronising!

Trailer Review - Creed
It's been 12 years since the last Rocky film, but the franchise is now experiencing a spin-off with in the form of 'Creed' Apollo Creed's son played by Michael B. Jordon. Adonis Creed following in the footsteps of his father with the help of Rocky, Sylvester Stallone OBVIOUSLY returning to the role, is there to help train and coach him to the top. Ironic seen as in Rocky III Apollo trained Rocky to defeat Clubber Lang.
Michael B. Jordon in the trailer looks like he has worked really hard for the part! Like his father he looks like he is fast and quick on his feet! Each punch looks realistic and just as you would expect a boxing film to look like! Michael B. Jordon not only being a talented and great actor but also prepared to be a good lead for this movie. The trailer gives us a good insight into a young and dedicated man who is prepared and eager to step into the ring and prove himself. Obviously he has large footsteps to follow in with Apollo being World Champion he would have to do something pretty spectacular to step out of his shadow!
As for what we know from the trailer, we know where Adonis is going and that Rocky will train rookie, with fast paced cuts and transitions it builds up suspense as we expect a fast paced, action filled film with a storyline that is bound to make people happy and remind them of the days when Stallone led the way in the Rocky films!
We are also reminded of some old scenery where Rocky used to train as Adonis jogs down a similar looking street to the one Rocky used to run down. Giving it a touch of the old Rocky films as well which is always nice! What I'm worried about a little bit is whether it'll be too much like the old Rocky films and not bring anything new to the table. I'm sure when the film is finally released in the UK we will see the balance between the old and new perfectly!
Having been introduced to Rocky at a young age I fell in love with the films a long time ago! I am looking forward to a new chapter following the story of another character but with Rocky still having a part to play! :)
Trailer Review - Suicide Squad 2nd trailer
There are a couple of things to touch upon in this trailer and one being magic. Katana who happens to be one of the squad members and wields a magic sword that consumes the souls of its victims. This could show that the DC Cinematic Universe are opening up to a wide range of power sources early on and it seems to be a key element in this trailer. Another being the strange monster in the subway that definitely doesn't look human, we see it destroying a train without any trouble! Well whatever it is it could well be a supernatural element in the film (I could be all wrong here) and it looks like it has the potential to turn people into monsters as we see some tainted and twisted looking creatures challenging members of Task Force X. Another one being Enchantress with her being supposedly possessed by the spirit of a witch, yet we see her in and out of that character throughout the trailer so who knows what kind of part she'll play.
We see more of Jared Leto's Joker but we are still not given a lot to look at. The character has been kept away from much of the action and it has been confirmed that he will mostly be separate from the squad. Suggesting that he might have an exterior motive in this film. Different from the team as he doesn't seem to value what they want, which isn't surprising coming from The Joker. We do get a few glimpses of him jumping into a pool and pulling Harley Quinn out of the water which could suggest his motive is connected to her in some way. This would make sense considering the history they have in the comics.
The title itself and the look of it makes it all the more enticing. The colours are those of a villain and mental looking font and layout further distance it from the Superheroes we love and know as their titles always have an empowering look to them, but this is special and I absolutely love the way it's been done!
Moving on with the trailer the choice to use Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' song was great! Most of the trailer played to the tune of the music and flowed beautifully, also giving it a wacky and unpredictable feel to it which is completely different to other Superhero trailers. Although this is kind of is and isn't a Superhero trailer, I'll just say it's unique, a crazy song for a crazy film!
For me this trailer has been the best I've seen in a very long time! It's great the way it's been fitted together and being introduced to the characters has been enough to not be annoyed about the absence of any narrative. Although we kind of get what it's about, a squad of bad guys hired to do suicide missions for the government. But what I wonder about is where they are and what kind of mission they're going on, the setting looks run down and very Arkham-like as well!
I'm looking forward to seeing more about this film in the coming months!

Trailer Review - 10 Cloverfield Lane
It's been a while since I've seen John Goodman in a film, the last film I watched with him was Monsters University! But anyway the trailer opens with Goodman's character playing Tommy James And The Shondell's "I think we're alone now" on the jukebox over a montage of shots including two other characters. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher, Jr complete the trio in the trailer and for a moment things don't look that scary. But then it all turns sour and ends with Mary's character attempting to escape the bunker and witnesses something so unnatural it ends the trailer right there. Whatever she saw we probably won't see it until the film is released in Cinema on March 11th this year!
The trailer doesn't give a lot of information about what's happening but from what I've read and gathered it's based around Mary's and John's characters, they are being held captive by Goodman in a bunker after a supposed chemical attack. But as we all know there's more to it and I'm excited to know what this film has to offer. There must have been a reason why this film was kept under wraps for so long by Paramount Studios and Abrams and with his recent success in Star Wars it might be worth watching this movie in cinema. Of course the reason for it being secret could have been to help promote Star Wars but I don't think that's the case. There will be more to this movie but not enough information to get anything from it yet.
More strangely the film will be shown in IMAX, which seems weird for a film with three people stuck in a bunker. Unless they aren't stuck in there all movie and could mean the monsters play a larger role than the trailer implies. Whatever it is that makes it IMAX worthy we won't know until its release, I hope to hear more information about the film as the film in the coming weeks seen as it really isn't that far away!
